I spend a lot of time creating with my hands because design doesn’t live in a vacuum (AKA your hard drive). In 2019 I took on the task of creating Relish Works’ annual report. As an innovation hub for Gordon Food Service, Relish pushes through dozens of projects a year, exploring technological solutions to their service challenges, with some projects leading to the creation of entirely new products. Because of their wide range of challenges and the sheer number of projects, I wanted to create a system of referential artifacts to help cut through the weeds and get straight to the core of each project, as each and every one of them were studied with care and deserve recognition.


Each report book contains a back pocket holding a map of projects plotted by current status, primary operator needs, business unit alignment and general area of focus along with a guide-booklet with further information to reference in tandem with the report.

	Formerly known as Tonic Room, 2447 N Halsted Street reopened its doors as Golden Dagger in April 2021 post-pandemic shutdown. Owner Donnie wanted to completely refresh the venue’s practices and image upon it’s return. What used to be seen as a male-dominated, jam-band-centric music venue is now home to a non-male dominated staff and many diverse acts across genre and demographic.
I took on the project of rebranding the venue, working closely with Donnie to nail down a fresh narrative that translates aesthetically. The goal was to create a brand that is playful and young, and demands attention amongst the many Chicago venues. Dagger hosts local as well as national acts, and has proven time and time again it holds its own in the burgeoning music scene. Small but mighty.
Since its reopening and rebranding in 2021, Golden Dagger’s instagram has amassed over 7k new followers as of January 2023.

	While on internship at MKG, a “creative agency specializing in brand experiences,” I had the pleasure of working closely with a small group of individuals from varying backgrounds on the company’s brand refresh and website redesign. I jumped in mid-process to help pull everything together to its final state before launch.

One of the main goals in refreshing our brand was to emphasize the company as it is: human. Behind all of our work are the people who come together in a collaborative environment to create memorable experiences. Our culture is key to the work we create and the trust of clients who believe in us enough to let us go above and beyond expectations— from the first click to the big night.I had the pleasure of working daily with designers Christa Seta and Garet Camella (remotely) who have experience in branding and web design. With the brand refresh and website redesign in progress simultaneously, each aspect informed one another. Working so immersively and in such close proximity, we were constantly testing and bouncing ideas off the team. I assisted in many facets, including but not limited to:

Amid brainstorming and problem-solving sessions, I helped smooth out some kinks and interactions around the website. We found ways to give our brand and our website that extra life and spark we needed through these interactions— big and small. These little things all add up to contribute to the impact and impression we leave on visitors, whether it’s hover states, overlays, or animations.

Youth in Limbo is an exploration shot with my Lomo Instant Wide over a period of&#38;nbsp; four months, capturing the strange stage between adolescence and adulthood that is the early 20s while living in Brooklyn.

New York, in my experience, is much like floating on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Realistically, it’s nothing like that— it’s overflowing with human decision often at others’ expense, and a seemingly inescapable emotional and physical overstimulation— and yet they somehow create similar feelings of isolation and desperation. It is within those boroughs that I learned some of my hardest lessons about love, perseverance, disappointment, and independence.
The imperfect nature of instant film echoes the feeling of inadequacy and uncertainty about the intersection of our identities and surroundings we experience. The use of manual tools within the camera like long and multiple exposures, as well as warping via scanner, allowed me to manipulate a medium that is often irratic, mimicking the effort to grasp and solidify our existence in an often unforgiving world.

Not everyone gets a sex talk, and not every sex talk is a helpful one. YKW* allows teens to learn about sex outside of the moral constraints of their households or schools and without the heteronormative attitudes commonly imposed by society. Porn and media give young people unrealistic ideas of sex, masking reality and leaving them to be unprepared.

Playful illustrations and a bright color palette draw the reader in and help tell a story rather than just list facts. The school binder-like nature of the set gives the reader a familiar comfort, while the multiple levels of privacy through hidden fold-out content and acetate overlays allow them to carry it around with confidence. YKW would be available at local libraries, aiming to give access to this information to communities where technology such as smart phones and personal laptops are not readily available.
